Rinstrum LUA application to automate a buggy weighing process

The customer needed a better solution to calculate the net weight of scraps which was being done manually at the time. The code of the buggy was manually entered, the full buggy was weighed, the scraps were dumped to the recycler and finally the tare weight was measured. The difference between the full buggy and the tare weight was calculated to obtain the scrap weight.

The Rinstrum application uses an R457-MAX with M4223 Lua Module and M4301 IO module. A barcode is used to identify the buggy which is scanned in via the USB barcode scanner connected onto the front of the R457. The data is logged onto the R457 and the net weight is automatically calculated. The R457 indicator is connected to the network and a custom web interface was developed allowing the logged data to be readily viewed and downloaded. USB download option is also available.
