Manufacturer's Conformity Assessments

When you purchase a Rinstrum weighing instrument, our experts provide you with comprehensive advice regarding questions of approval and assessing conformity. Rinstrum is accredited by the NMi for assessing conformity of automatic and non-automatic weighing instruments according to module D.

The Rinstrum QA system which has been tested and audited according to the relevant European Scale Directives 2014/31/EC and 2014/32/EC, in consultation with NMi, allows us to authorize our customers to carry out conformity assessments on behalf of Rinstrum.

Conformity assessments are necessary when,

  • The price of a product is determined by weighing in commercial transactions
  • the scale is used for official purposes to determine fees, customs duties and penalties and for expert opinions for courts
  • The scale is used for the production of pre-packaged goods
  • The scale is used in the manufacturing process of drugs in pharmacies and for analyses in medical and pharmaceutical laboratories

How to get authorized for conformity assessment according to module D

Your company should successfully complete an audit where the requirements of the conformity assessment are discussed and determined, after which you can get authorized as a Rinstrum Verification Officer (RVO) to perform conformity assessments.

The spectrum includes:

  • Non-automatic weighing instruments (NAWI)

Per our QA system, Rinstrum will offer you seminar and training modules for your team concluding with an examination and each year the RVO status will be reviewed and revised.

Why you should become an RVO?

  • You will have more flexibility in planning as you will be carrying out the conformity assessment yourself in coordination with your end customers
  • You will save time as you do not have to wait for an appointment with the representatives of the relevant W&M authorities.
  • You will always be up to date in legal metrology as Rinstrum provides you updates regarding the latest standards and regulations for verifications and changes in legal metrology.
