Sheep CRC declares Rinstrum's Walk Over Weigher a winnerRelease date: 08 Nov 12 Recording the performance of the Australia’s sheep flocks is to become quicker and easier following Rinstrum's development of a new mob-based walk over weighing system as a result of an initiative of the Cooperative Research Centre for Sheep Industry Innovation (Sheep CRC). The Sheep CRC announced Rinstrum's entry the winner of their competition to develop a commercial un-manned sheep weighing system designed to establish the overall weight of a flock of sheep to assist farmers in their pasture management. Rinstrum's prototype system was the clear stand out among the expressions of interest received by the Sheep CRC, with its simple yet effective design both highly accurate and able to integrate with existing performance recording systems. Sheep CRC Chief Executive James Rowe said “The Rinstrum design is an outstanding find for the sheep industry, Rinstrum are weighing specialists and they have been able to develop the prototype system using off the shelf parts, removing the need for investment in complex software systems and ensuring rapid commercialisation of the new systems". Rinstrum is delighted the Sheep CRC has selected our walk-over-weighing prototype, which we believe will deliver sheep producers time and labour savings as it can provide accurate and an easily-accessed data of mob liveweights. The weighing technology used was 4 x LDP 500kg loadcells, R420 with K405 software and a loadcell summing puck. The system also has scope for incorporation of RFID data collection. Rinstrum is currently working with the Sheep CRC to fine-tune the prototype at the Orange Research Station, NSW. It is anticipated that the new sheep weighing system will be commercially available in early 2013. More information on Walk Over Weighing is available on the Sheep CRC website www.sheepcrc.org.au

2100 Series V3 No Longer Valid for Trade StampingRelease date: 10 Jun 12 The 2100 Series indicators and remote have been modified with the Version 3 release due to end of life on one of the components. The 2100 V3 is not valid for trade stamping and no longer is covered by NSC (S-403) nor OIML (R76) due to the excitation changing from 8V to 8.5V. This applies to the V3 2100, 2101 and 2150 products. The 2101 is still valid as it is approved under the S1/0/A regulation in which the Excitation regulator is not used. Specifically the 2150 Luggage Weighing indicator has been replaced with the R300 series (either R323 stainless steel housing or R320 ABS housing) using specialist luggage weighing firmware. The 2150 is no longer available. The 2100 and 2101 will continue to be available while production quantities remain viable, along with spares. We recommend that the 2100 and 2101 should not be used for new design, please contact your local Rinstrum office to discuss alternatives.
